The community garage sale on May 1st saw a lot of traffic in Water’s Edge. We hope those that participated were successful or you found lots of bargains. Our covenants allow 2 garage sales per year (sorry no individual sales). If this date did not work for you we will have another sale in the fall if there is enough interest.
Special Recognition and Thanks to Homeowner Sherry Buckley
Sherry Buckley is stepping down from her position of Vice President and Supervisor of grounds maintenance after many years of dedication and service.
Sherry has done a great job in securing bids and contracts for the multiple services that have helped maintain Water’s Edge and improve our common grounds since the Homeowners association took over this function from the developers. She has been responsible for many behind the scenes improvements including light repairs, new signs and improving landscaping as the budget allowed. Though it was often a thankless job, we want to say “Many, many thanks” for her years of service and cooperative work with other board members. It was much appreciated! Other board members will step up to fill this position until elections next year.
Irrigation System Checks
Reminder! Indiana State law requires that all irrigation systems have their “backflow prevention device” checked yearly. This helps prevent contamination of our public water. You should have received a letter from Bargersville utilities recently requesting a report of your system from a licensed tester (usually the company that services your system can provide this service). Call Bargersville if you have any questions (422-5115).
Wow! For our current economy Water’s Edge has had a lot of activity. There are 5 homes being built this year. There are 8 remaining lots available: #2,75,76,77,78,92,99, & 100
Thanks for stepping up!
A big thanks goes to homeowner Rose Kelly Falls for her work in developing an evacuation plan in the event of a Dam failure on the big lake. Development of a plan was suggested on our last Dam Inspection report.
We’d also like to recognize Megan Tsai. She will be working with Janet Miller in developing a web site for Water’s Edge. You will be able to access our covenants and restrictions, bylaws and a map of Water’s Edge.
Your Money at Work
This spring has seen the routine maintenance of fertilizing and mulching and edging the common areas, pulling the lake fountains from storage and reinstalling in the lakes, checking the sprinkler system (including backflow testing) and the planting of flowers. Other maintenance and improvements that have been completed or are in the works soon are:
Repair of lake fountain and replacement of pump
Repair and reinstallation of damaged stop sign
Repair of street lights/ replacement of broken panes
Spraying the lakes for weeds
Mowing of the Dam and removal of small trees
New signage including 25 MPH signs, “No fishing, No swimming, No Skating, No Tresspassing” signs and new street sign and post at entry
New pump at waterfall landscaping at north entry
Installation of “rainfall sensor” to prevent sprinklers from running when not needed
Repair of sprinkler system at south entry
If you see any repairs that are needed or have any suggestions for improvements or ways to help contain our costs please call one of the board members. We want to be good stewards of your money!
If you see anyone vandalizing signs, lights or property in Water’s Edge please call the police immediately. You may also report known non-residents using any of the lakes, as signs will be posted in all areas.
Also please do not throw rocks from any of the dam/rocked areas into the lake. Several have observed adults and children throwing large and small rocks into the lake. Skipping rocks is fun but the replacement can be costly. Thanks.
We Need Your Help!
Your elected board oversees the management and improvements to our community. An annual meeting is held at the end of each year to approve our budget and elect new officers. Many of this year’s officers have served for multiple years and will be stepping down at the end of the year. All positions are voluntary but serve a very important role in keeping Water’s Edge a premier location for homeowners. Please consider how you might serve in the following year. You may contact any of the current officers if you have an interest or questions.
We will attempt to provide newsletters semiannually or as important news needs communicated (e.g. Homeowner meetings). These shall be provided by email. There will be no mailings due to the expense and time required. Please keep me informed of any change in your email address or errors in information provided.
If you have an interest in helping with the newsletter let me know, as I will be retiring form this position next year.
Have a safe and fun summer!
